Bright ideas from Helsingborg

Five case stories that point to a bright future
The City of Helsingborg has invested in Wagfors’ EKO system. The system has been installed at 138 street lighting stations around Helsingborg and in the suburbs.
This means that around half the 25,000 lights in the city are now dimmed by reducing the voltage from 230 to a minimum of 175 volts, giving an energy saving of almost 50 per cent during those periods when the dimmer system is used to its full potential. In financial terms this has reduced electricity costs by around SEK 1.5 million each year, and it is estimated that the investment will pay for itself in around six years. From the environmental point of view it means a reduction of 1,000 tonnes in carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 400 cars which drive 15,000 kilometres each year.
